Paudie Walsh is one of the most popular wedding DJs in Kerry. I play throughout Killarney, Tralee, Dingle, Kenmare and many other parts of the county. Killarney is one of my favorite towns in Ireland. There is so much going here all year round and every corner you turn there is a different musician on the street or something happening. It’s great! It is also not hard to see why it is so popular with weddings. The views and scenery around Killarney are amazing for photographs.
The Castlerosse Hotel is about 2km from Killarney town and sits on the shores of the Lakes of Killarney. On a clear day the setting for this hotel is beautiful. Besides the views of the Killarney lakes it also draws in views of the Magillicuddy Reeks, Ireland’s highest mountains.
Afterband Wedding Set:
I played an after band wedding DJ set in the Castlerosse Hotel on this particular night. The mighty Truly Diverse Wedding Band played the first half of the nights entertainment. They among other bands feature on my recommendations list and are well worth checking out. I have worked with this band for about 5 years and together we have played at countless weddings. They play a great mix of music including everything from 50’s right up to today’s chart.
I arrived and setup as the same time as the lads so when they are playing I am always watching to see what is working for them and then deciding what I can add to my setlist for the night. Setting up at the same time as them also means that I don’t cause any disruption later on in the night and also means that as soon as they finish I can start straight away without any break in the music. Truly Diverse have an amazing finish to their set (one of the best I have seen) and they have everyone on the dance floor. It is my job to then keep them the guests there and dancing into the small hours.
Music:
The bands 80’s set went down very well and I decided that I would include a few of the 80’s classics into my set. All up tempo songs like Call me Al, KC & The Sunshine Band, among others. They went down a storm. Even the Bride and Groom got picked up and carried around coming close to the end of the set. It was also a given that I included some Guns N Roses. The band had just played Slane Castle the week before. A lot of the guests (including myself) had attended the concert and it was still fresh in everyone’s mind. I mixed that in with a bit of Ram Jam, Ac/Dc and Status Quo to finish off the night. The place went nuts and there was a lot of air guitars in Killarney that night.
In fairness to the couple’s family and friends they were a great bunch to play were and were well up for the craic.
