Full Night Wedding DJ Paudie Walsh at the Parknasilla Resort in Sneem, Co. Kerry. I have played many weddings here both in the main function room where the grand piano is as well as the smaller room alongside it. Parknasilla is a luxury resort and spa set on the coast line of Kenmare Bay on 500 acres of secluded land. On the 500 acres of land there are hidden beaches, islands and inlets to explore. I think you could spend a month there and still find something new. It really feels like you are away from the rest of Ireland when you visit here and it is great for smaller intimate weddings. You can have the full day on site from ceremony, drinks reception, meal and evening entertainment or have your ceremony in a local church. With the amazing scenery around the hotel it is a dream for photographers especially in the Summer months when you can get out and about.
Full Night Wedding DJ Kerry – The Music:
This was a small intimate wedding with 25 guests who were visiting from America. They had all come over as wedding guests to Kerry. Some had made it a holiday and toured around the south west for a few days, more arrived the day before the wedding for the celebration. The wedding couple had provided some music suggestion for the night prior the date and I was able to make my playlist from that. It included a good number of chart songs and more modern music. On arrival and meeting the couple and guests I realised the majority of wedding guests were of a similar age to the bride and groom, with most being in the 25-35 year old bracket. Having played many American weddings in the past, I knew the taste in music was slightly different to what you would have at an Irish wedding.
The music is a lot more commercial and the songs that are on the radio are big favorites versus a lot of the older Jive/waltz songs. The was a mixture of Bruno Mars, Top 40 and pop to start with. It was a beautiful day in Kenmare so with the up beat music and nice weather it set a really nice tone for the early evening dancing. I also included a RnB set with a lot of the early 2000’s and Hip Hop classics from Fatman Scoop, Usher and Justin Timberlake. That style went down really well with the guests so I continued it. I also managed to work in some of the song suggestions from the Bride and Groom at the same time. Following on from that and as the night was coming to a close I did a party set to finish. This included a lot of 1980’s, rock n roll, Dirty Dancing and sing along favorites. I always like to finish some of the older music as it is universal to all ages. It gets everyone back on the floor; singing and dancing along to finish the night. I also included a few more of the couples requests. They had some specific slow songs to finish which had a special meaning to the couple. I had everyone make a circle around the edge of the floor to start with them in the center. I then invited all their family and friends to join them on the floor. It was a fantastic way to finish the evening.
Tip For Booking a Full Night Wedding DJ:
Ask the DJ before booking if they are comfortable to not only play the music but also are happy to MC the night where needed. This is very important when it comes to making announcements during the evening as well as the introductions for the first dance, father/daughter dance etc. It really adds to the night when you have a DJ who is confident on the microphone and not afraid where needed to use it. It can be a very long night without it. Having someone just play music with little or no interaction can have a negative effect on the dance floor. On the other hand, if you have someone who will interact with the crowd, make announcements and encourage the guests onto the dance floor you will have no problem ensuring the floor is full for the night. Personally, I like to interact with the crowd, encourage people to join everyone else on the dance floor and love to introduce a couple to the dance floor for their first dance. I have no hesitation where needed to make announcements and act as an MC for the evening. I am often booked for full day celebrations where I am the Master of Ceremonies for the whole night. Including the bridal party introductions to the function room and for any special that have been arranged.
