ABOUT PAUDIE

The life of Paudie Walsh. If I was to describe myself in one word it would be “lucky”. By that I mean I am so lucky to be a full time wedding DJ here in Ireland. I grew up in a small village in North Cork and now, I am based in Limerick city. I grew up with one younger brother Cathal and both my parents – Derry and Colette. It was no surprise I grew up to start and work for my own company. Both my parents are self employed and a good work ethic was always something I saw as I aged.

I started DJing locally when I was 17. Playing for friends, family and anyone or thing that wanted music. The bookings steadily grew through my college years and now I am a full time wedding DJ.

Things I Am Most Proud Of:

  • Number one would have to be, being able to do what I love and what I am passionate about.
  • Getting to work with couples from all over Ireland. Being based in the South West of Ireland I have been the DJ of choice for many couples in Limerick, Cork, Kerry, Clare and Tipperary. As well as the South West I have worked all over Ireland.
  • Along with Irish couples I have been the DJ of choice for many International wedding couples. It is a great privilege to have worked with couples from all over the world. These include countless couples from America, Canada, France, Dubai, Spain and Sweden. Many of these couples do not have wedding bands and choose me as their only wedding entertainment.
  • Being a full time DJ. I started DJing as a hobby back when I was 18 years old. Over the years it was a part time job which helped me to pay for college. Now 10 years later I have been a full time DJ for over 2 years. I’m really proud that my DJ career is paying for my lifestyle. Being a DJ is not a part time job or hobby. It is my means to live.

Operating Sustainably:

Something that is really important to me and many of the couples is operating sustainably. There are 2 key areas I operate in an environmentally friendly manner.

Paperless Admin – All contracts, booking forms, planning forms and music documents are all handled through an online booking system. This significantly reduces my carbon footprint compared to other methods. Traditionally contracts would be sent out, signed and returned. Planning forms would be printed, filled in and returned. This generates a massive amount of unneeded paper waste once the event is over. To minimise this I moved to all digital contracts and forms.

Sat Nav & Online Maps – To ensure I am taking the most efficient route to a venue I continually use a sat nav linked with Google Maps. This keeps me up to date with live traffic and can automatically re-route me based on any congestion or traffic jams. If there’s a venue I have not visited before it ensures I don’t get lost!
